The world is on fucking fire.

This is for those who hold space for others in that fire,

Specifically those with minoritised identities e.g. queer, nd, disabled.

What Is Hope Springs?

During four 90-minute group calls, we'll...

  • Explore What Hope Means To Us: each of us not only has our own interpretation of hope, but also what we need to really feel it. We investigate together.

  • Be In Community With Others: as mental health professionals, it can be difficult for us to find safe, confidential spaces to be together and care for ourselves and each other.

  • Share And Learn: in small groups, we'll share, exchange, and learn new ways to feel hope in our lives and practice.

  • Actively Practice Hope: rejuvenate our own sense of hope and purpose within what can feel like a hopeless world.

  • Cultivate Self-Care: take a moment to look away from the devastating horrors and let hope be our nourishment.

"I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest."

Why Are You Running This?

I'm a multi-neurodivergent, queer, white-passing, anglophone therapist in private practice.

I acknowledge that some of these identities accrue privileges that I haven't earned, and are often invisible to those who hold them, while simultaneously creating barriers for those who don't.

Back in April 2020, I created Hope Springs to connect with other scared and upset people in a time of global fear and uncertainty. Five years on, I believe we need to cultivate and practice hope more than ever, so I'm holding this space again.

A Safer Space for

Mental Health Professionals

If you are BIPOC, queer, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, fat, non-monogamous, disabled, kinky and/or part of any other erotically marginalised or minoritised communities, I aim to offer you the safest community space I can.

Racism, ableism, transphobia, homophobia, and any form of hate speech will not be tolerated. This is absolutely non-negotiable, regardless of if you're 'playing devil's advocate' or 'wanting to open the debate'. If that is your approach to other people's human rights, this is not the place for you.

What's Included In Hope Springs?

At the heart of Hope Springs are our weekly online meetings. The four themes are:

Week 1: What is Hope? How do we cultivate it?

We'll delve into your unique understanding of hope and what aspects you need to feel it.

Week 2: Hope for the individual:

We'll reflect on and share our successful strategies for cultivating hope within ourselves. We'll address individual needs and share valuable tools.

Week 3: Hope in groups and community:

We'll explore how to foster hope within communities, groups, and (chosen) family, both in person and online. We'll share resources for building collective hope.

Week 4: Institutional and global hope:

We'll examine the opportunities for hope in larger institutions, and systems, and explore strategies for cultivating hope on a larger scale.

How Does It Work?

How to prepare for Hope Springs?

Once you sign up, you'll receive all you need via email and the Hope Springs course portal.

What happens on the calls?

Each call will start with a short mindful presencing activity to bring us together. The majority of the 90 minutes is spent in small or large group discussions. You'll be offered questions to reflect on and discussion points to explore together, based on the week's theme. It's an opportunity to share, learn, listen, and be in community.

When are the calls?

The calls are 8 - 9:30 am PDT,  4 - 5:30 pm UK time, and 5 - 6:30 pm Central European time on Friday 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th April.

How is this a safe and confidential space?

Various measures will be taken to make Hope Springs as safe as possible. These include, before we start, you'll be send a group contract based on confidentiality and respect. During the calls, held on a secure platform, participants are invited to keep their cameras on as much as possible, and we will lock the room once we've started.

How much does it cost?

Hope Springs is free to attend. This is my contribution to our community, because, at this moment in time, I have the spoons available to offer it.

How do I ignore all the hate and bad shit in my life and the world and focus on hope?

Hope Springs isn't about bypassing, ignoring, or pretending the horrific shit isn't happening. It's about not being isolated and overwhelmed by it. It's a moment of peaceful pause and of solidarity. It's a pit stop in a relentless marathon. It's a mouthful of much needed sustenance, before we head back out into the fray.

Hope Springs Is For You If...

  • You hold minoritised identities, such as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, queer, fat, disabled, or neurodivergent.
  • You want a safe space to be in community with therapeutic peers.
  • You want to actively focus on cultivating hope as a practice.
